Dear Reader,

The main thrust of Homeschooling Parent is to support and encourage the homeschooling community across the nation. One way we do that is by putting information and resources in front of you, our reader, to equip you on your journey.

We are strong advocates of choice in the approaches and teaching tools used to homeschool. Children are not made from cookie cutter molds, which is one of the driving forces behind homeschooling. After all, no one intimately knows a child like a parent. The idea that a child would be placed under the educational care and guidance of a stranger, strikes deep within homeschooling parents. Therefore, optimizing the opportunity to choose how you teach and what you use to teach, is vitally important.

With 2.5 million K-12 homeschooled children in America, companies are working steadfastly to develop new materials and services for our ever-growing community. And, with that comes choices -lots and lots of choices.

As we journey through the review process in each issue, we dedicate pages to products that grab our attention; products that we believe will beneift you in your homeschooling expedition. However, there comes a time through the review process that the best-of-the-best rises to the surface. As a result, in 2004, we launched Homeschooling Parent’s Homeschool Friendly Stamp of Approval to recognize these over-the-top, exceptional products and services. This is now the third year that we have issued the Stamp.

We don’t toss out our Stamp of Approval lightly. Unlike what’s become commonplace in the homeschool community, you won’t find our name on hundreds products. Homeschooling Parent’s Homeschool Friendly Stamp of Approval is only issued in certain categories to select recipients. The Stamp is reserved for extraordinary products and services that are perfectly suited for homeschoolers.
Recipients are selected based on the superiority of the product or service they provide. Advertising in Homeschooling Parent is not a criteria for consideration. We value our advertisers and appreciate their business, however, the Stamp, like any other product you find in our editorial pages throughout the year, is based strictly on merit.

I know first-hand from the hundreds of letters I receive throughout the year that you value the magazine’s mission in bringing you quality products and encouraging you in the enormous undertaking of schooling your children at home. As such, it brings me great joy to make the final selections for our annual Stamp of Approval recipients because I know the level in which we scrutinize every product that comes through our doors. I can assure you that these products and services have truly risen up and above their industry peers.

When you see our Stamp of Approval on a product as you are browsing a website, catalog, retailer, or exhibit hall, keep in mind this is a highly selective process and these Stamps aren’t issued for our benefit, but designed as a method to assist you in finding quality products to meet your educational needs.

Thank you for allowing us to serve you,
